The home is just minutes from town, Arenal, where you can go shopping with the locals, book an excursion on the lake (wind surfing, swimming or boat rides), or grab a bite from one of the many local sodas. Our community is a very friendly, active with many retirees mostly from the U.S. and Canada and some Europeans who easily meet and join into varied get togethers. We have a community Facebook page for the Lake Arenal Community with a section on Events and other chats so you can keep up with all the interesting things to do. There is a very busy calendar of events to choose from or you can just relax in your new home surrounded by healthy green nature with birds singing and monkeys howling around you. A 45 minute jungle drive will take you to La Fortuna, where you can do any number of excursions: jungle hikes to waterfalls, ATVs, zip lining, butterfly conservatory, waterfall rappelling, hot springs, water parks, cocoa and chocolate plantation, sloth conservatory, rafting, night clubs, restaurants and bars.
Arenal is only a short 1 1/2-hour drive to the capital city of our Guanacaste Province, the capital city of Liberia, which now competes with San Jose for necessary purchases. The Liberia International Airport is conveniently located here so no need for a 4-hour drive to San Jose with its irritating traffic. Liberia is also only ½ hour from the beautiful Pacific Coast where you can choose between many North Nicoya Pacific Beaches for a day or weekend of sunshine and still return to the cooler climate of Lake Arenal with its continuous breezes for comfort.
