The town of Arenal is the fastest growing town on the lake with many activities. The larger Municipal town of Tilaran, only a 20 minute drive west, is a charming mountain village of 25,000 people with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and more shopping available. In Tilaran there is an express bus service to San Jose where you can use Uber or taxis and not get caught in the overwhelming traffic.
