This conveniently located home is on a hillside within walking distance to Nuevo Arenal so you could live here without a car if you wish. It has a very high attached garage which could be made into an interesting living room if you wish. Or a separate living area and loft. There are presently two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The surrounding nature is tranquilizing and beautiful. It faces permanent government protected trees across the road in front. A benefit is that there is no need for a/c or heat as the average temperature year round is 70F. And the air is clean and fresh from the surrounding forests, plus the water is pure. Its easy to grow your own vegetables here and the flowers and orchids are similar to those in Hawaii. It is healthier place to live than most of the rest of the world…a rare gem location.
Some attractions in this area are Lake Cote (a beautiful heart shaped lake in the National Park Reserve), Lake Arenal water sports, waterfalls, river kayacking, rainforests, Tenorio National Park with its Rio Azul and waterfall, tennis and pickleball, book clubs, a garden club, yoga-health and wellness retreats and exercise classes. The country of Costa Rica is known for its sustainable energy and lack of an army. Their education is the highest in Central America and families are close here. Its like living in a small town in the U.S. years ago and very simply living. No need to dress up …. your neighbors are not liked for what they do/did but how they relate to you. Some very interesting people here to meet. Its about an hour drive along the lake road Route 142 to get to the #2 busiest tourist town of La Fortuna with its Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs as well as an abundance of activities and tours. It takes only 1 1/2 hours to drive to the bustling capital city of our Guanacaste Province, Liberia, where there is an international airport and many of the large chain stores for shopping,,,,,then by driving only another 20 minutes you will be at the beautiful Pacific Ocean beaches which makes it easy to go to the beach for the day or weekend. Exploring Costa Rica is a pleasure as the lush green environment is spectacular wherever you go.
Here in our small 4000 population mountain/lake town we have very friendly relations between both Costa Ricans (Ticos) and Foreigners (Gringos). it is easy to make new friends with other retirees, mostly from the US and Canada. There are many available activities to support a healthy lifestyle. The restaurants serve a variety of delicious food including vegetarian and vegan, and there is preferred grocery shopping nearby plus an organic store with fresh farm goods and other health products. It is beautifully green year round unlike the very hot Pacific area. Most animals are grass fed so people are healthier here especially since they don’t eat as much processed food as in the States. The flowers and fruit trees rival those of Hawaii. And colorful tropical birds including toucans are everywhere. Life here shouts Pura Vida.
