Here in our small 4000 population mountain/lake town we have very friendly relations between both Costa Ricans (Ticos) and Foreigners (Gringos). it is easy to make new friends with other retirees, mostly from the US and Canada. There are many available activities to support a healthy lifestyle. The restaurants serve a variety of delicious food including vegetarian and vegan, and there is preferred grocery shopping nearby plus an organic store with fresh farm goods and other health products. It is beautifully green year round unlike the very hot Pacific area. Most animals are grass fed so people are healthier here especially since they don’t eat as much processed food as in the States.
The flowers and fruit trees rival those of Hawaii. And colorful tropical birds including toucans are everywhere. Life here shouts Pura Vida.
