These five acres are a very private property bordering a mostly unused connecting road between Route 142 and the higher Mata de Caña Road…. which means road noise will not disturb the tranquility of the surrounding forest. It has had little landscaping with original trees for you to decide how you want it for your home.
The Emerald of Arenal Estates has a hand dug well, 1 meter in diameter and approximately 12 meters deep.
The material that was excavated from the well had a preponderance of excellent white clay. The well is situated in the most protected position of lots 1&2. There exists a reinforced concrete covering over the well with a 4 inch plastic pipe that goes down into the water. One could easily pump from this pipe to check and test the water. It is wonderful that the water is there but the well needs to be developed slightly and pumped to the surface or to the highest point beside it. A water tank on the top of lot 2 will deliver water to the whole of the property. The well is registered to the property by concession.
Pesticides or herbicides have never been used, keeping it organic is important for future food production. We have only planted trees, never cut. Organic vegetables and fruits could easily be raised here.
As well there are no electrical poles in all of the 350 meters of road front. By design the ICE power can be accessed at the northwest corner of lot 4.
There exist leveled areas on lot 1&2 where we initially thought we would like to build, there exist some foundation holes and one for a septic tank on lot 1.
The Liberia International Airport is conveniently located here so no need for a 4-hour drive to San Jose with its irritating traffic. Liberia is also only 1/2 hour from the beautiful Pacific Coast where you can choose between many Northern Nicoya Pacific Beaches for a day or weekend of sand and sunshine and then return to our cooler climate.
The much appreciated climate here is an average 70F year-round meaning that you do not need a/c or heat. There are friendly relations here between both Costa Ricans “Ticos” and Foreigners “Gringos”. There are many choices of restaurants and lots of preferred grocery shopping is available including organic with fresh farm veggies abundant. Fish trucks come up from the Pacific Ocean selling fresh fish from that day’s catch, so we have good choices. Most animals are grass fed so people are healthier here especially since they don’t eat processed food as much as we do in the States.
