Lake Arenal Properties began in 1991 when Cathy and John Nicholas left corporate life in New York City, moved to Costa Rica, and opened the lake’s first bed & breakfast. Guests who fell in love with the area soon began asking about property, and out of those requests the agency was born. From the start, their focus has been simple: represent only properties they would feel confident purchasing themselves. That commitment to honesty and careful guidance has earned them a reputation as some of the most trusted agents in the region.

Today, Cathy is joined by her partner, Lucas Mongrillo, a lifelong local with deep knowledge of both the area and its legal landscape, and Glenn Clark, who specializes in rentals for those not yet ready to buy—or those looking to rent out their homes. Together, the team offers a welcoming, down-to-earth approach built on decades of experience, local insight, and integrity.
