Arenal is only a short 1 1/2 hour drive to the capital city of our Guanacaste Province, Liberia, which now competes with San Jose for necessary purchases and services. The Liberia Internal Airport is conveniently located here so no need for the long 4 hour drive to San Jose with its irritating traffic. Liberia is also only 1/2 hour from the beautiful Pacific Coast where you can choose between many Northern Nicoya Peninsula Pacific Beaches for a day or weekend of sunshine and still return to the cooler climate at Lake Arenal with its comfortable breezes.
